Abstract

Non-timber forest products play an essential role in sustaining people's livelihoods, particularly as a source of income for people who live in or near forest regions. Honey bees and sugar palms are two examples of plants that have been used by populations throughout the forest for years. This study was carried out to determine the contribution of NTFPs to the total income received by communities in this Special Purpose Forest Estate. This study is being conducted in the Forest Area with a Special Purpose (KHDTK) Tabo-Tabo Forestry Education and Training, Pangkep, South Sulawesi, Indonesia, which has a total area of 552.47 ha. The data collected was obtained from interviews and field visits and then processed using cost analysis, income analysis, and contribution analysis. We found that the contribution of NTFPs to the total income of the Tabo-Tabo KHDTK contributed significantly (88%) to the community's total income.
